REVIEW- HUDA BEAUTY 3D HIGHLIGHTER PALETTE
(Golden Sands)

The Indian Makeup Lovers went absolutely crazy when Huda Kattan decided to collaborate with Nykaa Beauty to offer Huda beauty products for sale in IndiaThey launched with the matte lipsticks, eyelashes and the much sought after Desert dusk palette. It was then time for the much awaited Huda Beauty 3D highlighter palettes... Inspired by Huda’s DIY hack using an oil under a powder to intensify the highlighter, Huda developed four shades within each palette that create a super seamless and three-dimensional glow. Huda created two palettes to suit varied skin tones, Pink Sands for fair to medium skin tones, and Golden Sands for medium to deep skin tones. Priced a little on the steeper side, I waited for some swatches and reviews and finally laid my hands on the palette in Golden Sands! There have been mixed reviews about the unique concept of this palette, however, I absolutely loved it and if you want to know why I love it, keep reading below!!!

Packaging:

Front Cover
Rear Cover

The palettes are square in shape and come in a clear plastic outer sleeve. The Golden Sands palette features image of the gorgeous diva herself as a brunette.

The outer packaging is matte and also features yellow gold metallic accents in the logo as well as the highlighted points of Huda’s face. When you move the palette around, these areas catch the light and it looks like she has a blindin’ highlight! I think this is a very clever strategy when it comes to differentiating the original product from the innumerable fake one's available in the market!
The internal packaging is matte black and the 4 products, 1 cream and 3 powder highlighters, are inset within the packaging. Instructions on applictaion of this palette are listed on the cover. A mirror would be nice at this price point, but it isn’t a deal breaker for me. The palettes have a magnetic closure, have a good weight to it and feel classy! I think the quality of the packaging is quite chic.

Value:

The Huda Beauty 3D Highlighter palettes are priced at ₹3600 and can be purchased from nykaa.com (I trust this for its authenticity). I purchased mine from Nykaa and it got delivery within 02 working days.

Formula:

There are 02 formulas within this palette, the cream melted strobe shade and the 3 powder highlighters.
Gorgeous 4-Step process!

The melted strobe shade is so creamy and superbly blendable. It is made with shea butter that gives it it’s blendability, and pearls that give this shade subtle glow. You do not need to use a lot to achieve a gorgeous glow. This shade is unlike any other cream highlight I have tried, it does literally melt into your skin.
The powder highlighters are extremely soft and pigmented. They are extremely finely milled powders, with no chunky glitter particles, and are easily blendable Results:
What I love about this palette is that each shade can be used individually, but when used in conjunction with each other, create a flawless and seamless three dimensional glow.

I am obsessed with the melted strobe shade used on it’s own for a natural every day glow! It is absolutely gorgeous! I actually wish that this shade had more product within palette...
All four shades used together can create the most flawless highlight and the instructions make it so comfortable even for any first time user... 4 shades for a beginner can be pretty overwhelming!

The only thing I think I need to get used to with these palettes, is using a shimmer as a contour sculpt shade and a blush shade. I normally reach for matte shades, however I didn’t find that the shimmers in these areas overly accentuated any skin textures. Recommended Application:

The inside cover has really simple and easy to follow instructions on how Huda would use this product. It is basically Instagram highlight for dummies! I love that they have pretty much spelled everything out, but in saying that you can use these products however you like, and you can of course use them individually as you would other highlighters.

If you are wanting a more subtle glow, you can use the Melted Strobe on its own, by applying sparingly with your fingertips and blending out with your fingers or even a beauty blender. The product does melt into your skin and is just so easy to blend. I think using a brush would cause you to pick up way too much product, and this would affect the final look.
If you want the most gorgeous and poppin’ glow, you can then follow Huda’s instructions, applying the highlight shade on the high points of the cheekbone. Then applying the contour shade in the hollows under the cheek bone. Finally applying the blush shade on the apples of your cheeks.

My favourite highlighter brush to use is the PAC cosmetics highlighter brush in 263 because it is great for applying and blending highlight. I feel like I have more control with this sort of brush. You could also use a fan brush like the Vega Fan Brush. Shades:

All of the shades in the Huda Beauty Golden Sands 3D Highlighter Palettes are named after gorgeous tropical destinations. These shade names keep to this theme of warm, bronze glow!

Golden Sands is the palette catered towards medium to deep skin tones.(which perfectly complement Indian skin tones)
Fiji – a creamy soft gold (Melted Strobe)Seychelles – soft warm goldTahiti – warm bronzeZanzibar – coral pink with golden shimmer

Personal Overall Verdict:

I am really happy with the quality and formula of the Golden Sands palette! I purchased the Golden Sands palette as I felt that this was more appropriate for Indian skin tones, which are mostly warmer and I was right. It complemented my skin tone in the most beautiful way and I ended up with a satiny glass skin kind of a finish!
